I needed several tubes of acrylic paint and did not have time to order online. An artist friend suggested I route my travel through Raleigh to go to this store, slightly out of the way. But I loved the store and it was well worth the detour. The store was very welcoming from when I first walked in through my shopping and having occasional questions. They helped me decide appropriate options, as they have several options and price points. Their prices were cheaper than I had seen online, even without the member discount. I was happy to use a 20% holiday discount by joining their free loyalty club. The store is clean, including the bathroom, and the shelves were well stocked and organized. They had bags made up for holiday gift kits of various paint and drawing supplies and they were priced too low for me to leave without one. I was replacing supplies that I lost when a kid moved out so I had to get a lot, and I spent about 70% of what I expected to spend. I would have liked to spend another hour there, such a pleasant shopping experience and such nice merchandise.
I was planning to buy a few pigment powder for a personal project that I have been doing diligent research for over a week. Online, it says it was available at Jerry's so I went to the store to check it out myself.
The pricing on the set of pigments on their online store was way less, like 29% less than how much they sell it in the store. The cashier at that time said they can do a price match for what it is online. They had a fire alarm issue so I decided to come back the next day.
I came back and was ready to buy it, and then adding other things thinking I'm saving a bit more but the then assigned cashier said that they only do price match on local brands. Where is this rule even written?
I could've easily bought it from Walmart and buy it for 34% cheaper compared to Jerry's Artarama store. "Support local", eh? I wonder how local artists can even afford buying from here.
This is an art supply store for real artists. Great, high-quality selection. Jerry's is based in Raleigh and family owned and operated since 1968. Skip the other cheap, corporate chains with low-quality stuff. I've bought everything from sketchpads to linoleum block carving tools to watercolors here.
Huge store with great selection of supplies. I don’t do art, but if you do, then you won’t be disappointed. I came in looking for Pentel drafting pencils. Happy to see these here. A little pricey, but their 10% off discount card helps! Cashier was also friendly. Will return.
I accidentally ordered the wrong item last night, filed a cancelation form and then called in first thing this morning to cancel it. I was assured by the lady on the phone at 9:13et that she was sending it straight to the warehouse. 3 1/2 hours later I got an "I'm so sorry " email! Been trying to call since 1:30et. First time they hung up on me after 52 minutes and 55 seconds! This time there's 12 callers ahead of me and it "should " take 12 minutes to answer my call. Home delivery. Jerry's tells you to refuse the package but it is left at your door, no signature required so you don't even have the opportunity to refuse it. I might as well have return information now so I can throw both the correct order and the incorrect in the truck and take it wherever it needs to be returned to. Will not order from again and once I get my money back- I will close my account, unsubscribe and send them to the junk mail folder. I wasn't happy with the Old Holland oil paints I ordered from them anyway. Charvin from them probably won't measure up either.
My loved one (who happens to have Autism) has worked at this Jerry’s for over 11 years now. She has always been treated with kindness and respect, including current management. Jerry’s Artarama is a very inclusive employer to work for and I can attest to this, as can my loved one and my loved one’s employee support staff. Please continue to support business like this one!
An amazing selection of art supplies and really good help. I was looking for a mechanical pencil and graph paper and they had a real nice combination.
Disappointed in my first online order from Jerry’s particularly the brush size! Perhaps it’s better to shop in person if they have a brick and mortar store. Here’s a photo of a number 10 creative Mark squirrel brush which is unbelievably tiny.! they advertise it as being a “large” # 10. See in the photo, the brush head next to a large paper clip.
Great selection at reasonable prices. Some supplies that I have never seen anywhere else. Super helpful and knowledgeable staff.
I learned the hard way that if you want translucent glass paint, you can find it on amazon; if you want really beautiful translucent glass paint, go to Jerry's!
